DIRECTOR
JJ Moorcroft
JJ Moorcroft, has his National Diploma in Hotel Management.
After graduation in 1983, his dynamic and diverse career path commenced with
Protea Hotels.
His skill, knowledge and motivation drove him through the ranks in all the various hotel departments, as well as different Protea hotels. JJ also proved invaluable when it came to opening new hotels within the Protea Group.
In search of new challenges and opportunity, 1988 saw JJ purchasing property and subsequently opening his own restaurant, which still operates today as the highly successful Café Gannet Seafood Restaurant, affectionately known as “Mossel Bay’s Seafood House” by the locals.
In 1992 it was once again time to conquer new pursuits…. so he built and opened a hotel, formerly known as The Old Post Office Tree Manor Hotel. Today this property operates as the highly successful Protea Hotel Mossel Bay (2006, 2007 and 2010 AA Accommodation Awards Winner as well as "Best Full Service Hote Award").
In 2013 we won the TripAdvisor Award.
With all these career moves and developments JJ’s interest and passion for tourism also grew tremendously. This is evident in his involvement with Tourism and the various Tourism and Marketing Associations. Contrary to JJ’s lifestyle he also started the town’s logo of “Live life slowly in Mossel Bay”.
